Antique Chinese Qing Dynasty Period Wood Console / Altar Table 83"L x 21"D x 31"H

$1,950.00

This is an antique Chinese console or altar table likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (Qing Dynasty period, circa 1880–1920). Made of solid northern elm (“yumu”) or sometimes cypress, both prized for their dense grain and durability.

Traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, with no nails—typical of classical Chinese carpentry. The projecting “horned” tenons at the corners (where the stretchers meet the legs) are both structural and decorative.

Measures: 83"L x 21"D x 31"H

Condition: Overall good strong and solid condition, lots of patina to the surface and the bottom rail, wear, scratches and staining. Some of the joints have been filled with a filler over time as they likely have shrunk. Drawer boxes were added later (typical of pieces exported from China to the US market). One side of the console is longer than the other - it appears it may have been cut for some unknown reason.

Because of the density of this Antique wood, this piece is quite heavy and will require extra help for local pickup, or professional delivery services we can provide.
